Bronyville Episode 043 – Friendship’s Bitter Pill

Dear Princess Celestia,
Bad things are bound to happen. However, how we react during these times can ultimately determine the fate of an entire community. This week was certainly chaotic and with Chef out it was up to Jwhoof and Giant Misquitto to lend me a hoof. In addition to Derpygate, we went over the basics of running a successful tumblr (like GM’s Doctor Adorable Ask-Along blog) and then went into full e-mail answering mode! It’s not all doom and gloom, I swear!

I can only agree with Cider’s disappointment. I love this show and this fandom so much, to have a few come out and be so needlessly aggressive just puts a damper on what is, in fact, an amazing group of people. If we keep annoying the people that are “tipping the hat” to us then they’re just going to stop. I really fear the day they decide to bring back Trixie.

Otherwise I am still 100% proudly brony, and the good still far outweighs the bad.

Personally I have a theory about all this aggression of late. could it not be possible that some trolls have decided to damage us from the inside by pretending to be bronies and then just getting upset about stuff? I personally would prefer that over actual bronies being like this

  2. just a note, you missed one of Starry’s ‘yay’ comments. keep up with the awesomeness of the show.

As a side note, I was much like Twist (glasses, skinny, and kinda nerdy) as a kid and teen and got picked on notoriously. Eventually people do grow up and some of them even eventually apologize for the bullying. The only thing I can suggest is ignore them. If it becomes a problem, talk to a teacher or your parents. Keep doing what you love, and things will work out.

I’m fine with Derpy’s new voice, but I’m upset with how awkward the scene is now. While RD’s first lines feel awfully empty, it’s the “My bad!” that really churns my guts. I guess if we didn’t expect her to become cannon and she’s back to being a background character there’s really nothing lost. Other that that, it’s nice things are calming down a bit and to have another Fluttershy episode soon. Good episode, as always.

I feel like whoever did the new voice was either aggravated or bored; her delivery was a bit flat in my ears, and that didn’t sit right with me. If the only thing that had been changed was to remove Dash naming our favorite grey pony, I think I’d have been happier, but there’s (yay)-all I can do about that now. (The biggest problem has always been her fanon name.)

By the way, why does nobody realize Derpy was the one saying “Yeah!” when the crowd turned ugly in the middle of Fluttershy’s fashion revue? She’d already been given a voice… one that sounded wrong to me from the start.

I prefer the higher-pitched, bubbly voice that BaldDumboRat does for her.

I was bullied through most of my school years, by what seemed like a third of the people around me. It never stopped and never slowed down except when I tried to fight back. Since my body didn’t develop much of anything resembling muscle until I was already in college for half a semester, that wasn’t gonna work out for me.

Sometimes all you can do is endure.

Awesome show, as per usual. It’s a pity about the Derpy thing; these last few days have been utter chaos. I love this fandom, I really do, but it seems to be home to many members of the “Shoot first, ask questions later” school of thought. I agree that an official statement from Hasbro would help matters greatly.

Also, I was glad to hear that somebody wrote in about your comment sin the previous episode regarding the people who use the term “coming out” about ponies. Some of the things said during that segment rubbed me the wrong way, I must admit. Yes, it’s only a show, and it’s not that big a deal. But getting angry about equating them strikes me as silly. Some of my friends are gay people; they’re not that easily offended. To be honest, I think it’s the other party in this equation who needs to take themselves less seriously. But that’s just my two cents.

Also also, Starry Night is brilliant.

I am sure that Derpy might get a episode in season 3.
