Dear Princess Celestia,
This week we may have suffered a slight technical doodery which may or may not have wiped out a whole episode. Never fear – our intrepid Mbulsht has offered up this wonderful discussion on fanfiction for our enjoyment. You know he actually presented this in his collage class, got an awesome grade, and talked all about bronies in the process? Good going M! Anyway, this is what he has to say!
———————
Hi guys! Mbulsht here. I had intended to write up a little article this week about some issues I’d seen in the Brony Fanfiction Community. However, after talking with a couple of my friends from the fandom, I decided to record a little bonus audio segment for y’all. So I sat down a couple nights ago with my friend Lucky, a fic writer, and Emdefmek, a fellow podcaster. We talked about fanfiction and stigmas in the fanfiction community, and a few other issues we have all faced as part of the community.

It would be useful if fanfic reading sites have the ability to add comments tagged to a specific line, because most of the commrnts i want to leave are sprcific to the contrext
That means no Chef Sandy-Apple Cider episode today? *le-pony-gasp!*
Noooo! What am I going to do without my weekly dose of AppleSandy? :X
But at least you won’t have any Sandy Apples…
I’ve never spent so long thinking about fanfic, and now I feel like I need to step up my commenting game. I am a bit disappointed with no Chef and Cider, but this too was interesting enough to be worthy of an episode.
I could have listened to this longer. You must do this again sometimes, M! Also, I only now connected you to The Patchwork, even though I’ve read it before… Speaking of which, when can we expect updates?
I’ll have to read it again and try to see if there’s anything wrong as you seem to like it
>People reading my fic
>Life is complete.
Updates have been slow, but I am getting back into it as the new year rolls ’round. Hope I’m up to your standards.
When you briefly listed places to go to read fan fics, I was disappointed you didn’t mention FimFiction.net. If you like feedback on your stories, it’s a veritable treasure trove. As an example, I recently posted a fan fic (“Rarity Lives”) on FanFiction.net and received just one review in an entire week. I later posted it on FimFiction.net, and I received 45 comments in two days. I’ve since started “watching” other writers on the site, and they’ve been “watching” me. There’s a sense of community there that I don’t find on other sites.
I liked what you had to say at the end of the podcast about taking in all comments you receive–good, bad, or just plain flame. If someone’s taking the time to respond to your work, that always feels good–at least to me–even if the intention is to hate.
“our intrepid Mbulsht has offered up this wonderful discussion on fanfiction for our enjoyment. You know he actually presented this in his collage class, got an awesome grade”
I hate to be ‘that guy’, but I genuinely don’t see how this discussion has any academic merit, let alone one significant enough to earn an “awesome grade”. Was it a technical class on audio recording? That’s about the only scenario I can imagine this earning a top score.
It was a technology class. The teacher didn’t care what the subject matter was, only the process by which I recorded, edited, mixed, and mastered the audio. The grade was based solely on my demonstrating my ability to properly use various DAWs and mixing techniques.
I really loved this special recording.
If you have any plans to do more, please do so.
M & Co.,
Nicely done here. Now that I’ve listened to this twice through, I hope you expand upon the subject in more specials, because–to me–you’ve only scratched the surface of the points the three of you discussed. (Read: MORE, DAMMIT!)
Since fanfiction is near and dear to my heart, I felt compelled to comment, but may have actually gone a little overboard in that regard. You can find out just how far overboard here:

The GDoc’s open for comments to anyone with the link, so feel free to add your two cents, Bronies.
Keep up the good work, M,
