Man, lots to say here.
1: PonyArchive
Enjoying the episode so far, and yeah, very unfortunate to see what happened with PonyArchive, particularly their antagonistic farewell to Hasbro. I’m really upset they chose to go down the ungraceful way they did, and am now hugely regretful that I previously depended upon them to get my Pony.
However, there is a happy side to this.
It prompted me to put my money where my mouth is, and when I say that I’m regretful to have used them, I mean it. I bit the bullet, signed over my soul to Steve Jobs’ estate, and bought season 1 on iTunes to replace all the episodes I “acquired” earlier. By the way, it’s on sale big time, only forty dollars for all episodes HD. I still don’t know how people outside of the US and Canada will get their Pony, maybe Hasbro can scramble to open it up to more regions, but for those who are in the region and have disposable income should totally go legit.
Also, that means I got myself an iTunes account set up. You better believe I rushed to dump a hefty 5-star on your podcast. Mozeltov!
2: Background hum.
Thought it was on my end, lol. But it seems that there is a background buzzing hum through the episode. Don’t know if you have the time/energy/capability to re-up with better audio, but hopefully it gets resolved by next episode. =)

4: Celestia/Luna Flag at end of Episode.
You don’t actually see the flag in the flashback sequence. All you see is the flagpole being placed, one of them pulls on a rope, and then it transitions to the present to show the unfurling of the Equestria flag on the stage. The old Equestria flag does not appear at all in the flashback.
Gah, anywho, way too much text here, sorry to anyone who actually read all this to find out there’s no prize for getting this far. Or this far. Or this far…

I agree with Vest, it’s unfortunate how PonyArchive are reacting to the C&D. Being in Australia I’m hoping that Hasbro will be able to sort out the region issues with the series on iTunes so we have a legit way to own the episodes.

I actually interpreted the Windigo-like noise at the end of the episode as just that: an outside noise that reminded the cast of the story they had just acted out, making them jumpy. Because it wouldn’t make sense if it was an actual Windigo; I find it hard to believe that no pony argues during winter, and the thing at the window wasn’t even a serious bicker. Besides, we’ve seen all of Ponyville arguing during Winter Wrap-Up, and that turned out Windigo-free.
Is there anywhere we can find that Christmas Mashup audio? The link isn’t up there on the shownotes.
Hey AC, might wanna get that microphone checked. Hummed for the whole podcast… or at least up until Chef left, I stopped listening around there because I’m sick of hearing about Bronycon because I’m a jealous pony that I can’t go.

Gonna say this episode was very underwhelming for me, especially after the gold quality episodes of the last few weeks.
About Ponyarchive — Yeah, I used them before. There are other avenues to get poni downloads illegally, and none to get them legally for me.
I want to get them through iTunes in 1080p. But, the episodes don’t go higher than 720p and I live in Canada anyway (where they don’t even have it available on iTunes). I can’t watch the episodes on TV because Treehouse TV LOVES to continue airing Season 1 over and over and over again (censored too!).
I have no way to watch new pony episodes legally. This is my complaint.

Cmon bronyville. You guys are being WAY to critical of the episode. I thought it was a really good one. Its like your back at Mare Do Well again. Remember the message Seth had to give us after that episode?

You should really just relax.
I think you guys were a bit too harsh on the latest episode. It was a well-crafted episode and had every character participating equally. Having anyone but the main cast wouldn’t have worked, it was a play.
I think the problem is that you didn’t exactly say WHY you disliked the episode in much detail.
Lots of others have mentioned the hum; I noticed it was a 60Hz hum, which can be caused by faulty electrical devices near your amplifier, or by using unshielded audio cables near a power supply (the EMF being emitted will echo in the cables). I guess M was on vacation, or maybe very tired, as it’s fairly easy to reduce that by cutting the specific frequency’s volume (you don’t want zero volume, as human speech includes some components around that area, and it can make voices sound tinny or hollow).
I forgot the other thing I was going to mention. You can go nuts trying to guess what it was. I guess it wasn’t all that important.
It took 3 viewings, but I’ve come to some conclusions about this episode; I think this was intended as some sort of stand alone episode, possibly as a DVD base or to be included bundled with a toy. Everything about it just seems a little off. The mane six ooh and ah at Canterlot, despite the fact they’ve all been there several times before (hell, Twilight grew up there), command performance for the Princess who’s MIA (no Luna either), Celestia & Luna on the unity flag despite neither being born yet, and the pageant didn’t really explain much of anything. If the WINDegos were thwarted by non bickering, wouldn’t the pony’s OLD homeland now be habitable again? This all predates the Princesses AND Discord? Meh, pretty thin broth all around.
