On this episode Midnight Shadow guests while sandy is out. And Markarian, Bejoty, and Pony Tim of Everfree Northwest come on to talk shop about their upcoming convention. In addition to telling us what really psyches them for next year we get into Equestria LA discussions, if streaming makes sense for conventions, continued discussion on Equestria Girls, and custom voiceboxes I may need to make a reality! I am so frustrated with Bronyville I don’t know where to begin.
You guys make these terrible broadcasting choices….
For example: Equestria Girls is no doubt the BIG story in the Brony fandom right now. Yet it takes you 41 (!!!) minutes to talk about it. I know it’s only about the site and apparently the show aired before the trailer aired and all hell broke loose.
But most likely you do the same thing. Next show you’ll talk about EQD after a long delay of sponsors, other stuff, then get to EQG in a anticlimcatic fashion.
Remember the Simpsons episode where Milhouse says “When are they going to get to the fireworks factory?!!!!” This is such a perfect example of this.
Its like a news show, you lead off with the hot story right off the bat! Or, are you guys sports fans? If not, go listen to Pardon the Interruption podcast.
It’s a podcast, basically the audio of a sports talk show where they talk about various sports hot topics.
They start with the sponsor, that takes like 10 seconds, then BOOM, they go to the hot topics, starting with the big stories then winding down. That’s what you guys should be.
Hey, I know it’s hard to get away from a established thing. But if you guys had a really experienced producer advising you that’s what they’d suggest. I’m sure the average Bronyville listeners don’t care, but if you want to cultivate a larger audience this is what you have to do.
Get to the point! Start talking about the big stories sooner!!
Your listeners attention span is short, why do you guys have a 20 second intro of music then…. UGH! It takes too long.
It should be rapid-fire. (BOOM!) The sponsors (BOOM!) First hot topic: Talk about Twilicorn, or Season 4 renewal or Equestria Girls trailer.
THEN you wind down and chew the fat for 1:30. But that first 5 minutes is crucial to getting the attention of your audience. You guys are so self-indulgent. I know it’s your podcast, you can do whatever you want but as a listener it’s so damn frustrating.
You guys have the talent, the popularity, and the experience, I just wish you had a competence behind-the-scenes producer to tell you to do these basic things that any professional show would do.
