We made it! 100 episodes! Do you know way back when I first stated posting the show someone thought I was crazy for starting with two leading zeroes? Hah! Who implemented proper podcast planning? And as long as we don’t plan on doing the podcast for anothee 16 years we shouldn’t have to worry about hitting 1k.

We had an amazing time and I want to first thank all of our amazing fans who thought the years have encouraged us and been ever so generous to us. This show was simply a ounce of the appreciate we’ve given for your continued support for us. So again, thank you. During this I was supposed to study friendship or something, which is something I still don’t really know much about. Canterlot Gardens Cancelation

Hello everypony,

So, as Sandy has mentioned via Twitter that we have decided to pull out of Canterlot Gardens. We’re sorry we had to do this so soon leading up to the convention but as we got closer to the event it didn’t seem like there was a fit for us.

We were contacted early on by CLG who was very generous in offering us free airfare for both of us to attend. After spending some time to go over if we could fit in another convention after Everfree Northwest we decided we would go for it. After that the convention did not contact us for several months and afterwards were surprised to hear we had been planning to attend and had been announcing our attendance on the show for the past four months.

Anyway, we got the breakdown of what we would be able to do at the convention last night. I went over the details with Sandy and outlined our concerns as follows:

We were only going to be able to have a 45 minute Q&A at 9:30 AM on Saturday. This is half the time of our usual recordings.
Our offerings for said event was the security room which could fit 10-15 people (after booting out security staff), the bar which could fit ? people if the hotel would let us (standing room only), or the area around the pool which still required hotel permission and doesn’t seem like the best place to record (water, acoustics, no PA).
We have zero access to any guests. All events were already accounted for and there was no way we could get any time on the main floor sans a single panel for Legends of Equestria. Any access would have to be on a ‘please be on our show omg’ basis.
All suite space was booked so we would have no room to do a livestream. Thursday was sold out and only king size single rooms were available.
No table space to sell any of our merchandise.
Even after telling them we were going to attend for months and then reaffirming we planned to attend we were never added to the guest page on Canterlot Gardens site (even after other guests were added).
Not having us come saves the convention roughly $700
Everything is going to be covered in the main room by Everfree Radio anyway so there’s no room for another media outlet

So, after going over these things we decided that Canterlot Gardens was just not a good fit for us at this point. The guys already have a packed guest sheet and the extra funds can be put towards more awesome content for the con. We hope that Perry, Klisk, and the rest of the team over there have a fantastic convention. If you planning to attend CLG I hope you still do. As a past convention board member every registration for a first year con is sacred. However, I’m sure the CLG team will be happy to work with you regarding memberships if otherwise.

As always, our fans are super awesome and we I hate to disappoint. None of this is in the name of drama – we only want to make sure that those fans coming to see us have ample opportunity to watch us perform and interact with us.

Sandy and I are already reaching out and planning to attend many conventions over the next year including the next Bronycon. Again, I am sorry for any of you who were hoping to catch us at CLG and I hope we can make it up to you in the coming months with more awesome content.

Dear Princess Celestia,

I didn’t learn a lesson today. Rather, today marks the culmination of a collection of lessons I have learned over the course of a whole year…

You see, one year ago today, I met a pony by the name of Apple Cider. He was a nice enough pony when he first reached out to me and we got to talking. At the time he had just recently started up this amazing thing called a podcast. You know, a radio show that can be streamed over the internet. He had a small following then of loyal listeners that tuned in each week to hear him and his good friend Chef Sandy talk about ponies and art and stories and music. It was a fine show at that point, despite it’s only recent birth, and he was seeking to make it into something truly great. He reached out to me that day to talk about something I’d done. What it was, I don’t exactly remember and it probably doesn’t matter anymore anyway, but what is important is the journey that arose from that conversation.

I was just a lowly second-year music student at Manehatten University trying to make it through the audio-engineering and electronic music program with nothing to do and no motivation to start any projects of my own. A dangerous position to be in, I know, but I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a fairly lazy pony. And when Apple Cider discovered this, he seemed ecstatic. He told me he absolutely needed somepony like me to help him with his podcast. I didn’t really understand why, and to be truthful I still don’t. My job can be done by just about anypony, Apple Cider included, but he told me he wanted me to help all the same. You should have seen the look on my face. I was so confused. But I didn’t have anything better to do, so I shrugged and said yes.

Of course, I didn’t know quite what I was getting myself into. And let me tell you, it’s been quite the wild ride with those two.

I’ve lost quite a bit of hair since that day. Mostly from tearing it out every time Apple Cider flubs and whenever Chef isn’t loud enough. Also when miss Starry Night yells things in the background that I have to boost or edit out. Also, she swears a lot. And Chef is actually never really loud enough. He’s got one of those soft subdued voices that you can never quite understand and you have to turn up the volume all the way, only to have Apple Cider’s booming voice destroy your ears.

And don’t even get me started on all the editing I have to do. All that stuff they ask me to cut, splice, fix, reverse, move, censor, and…well, you get the idea.

Not to mention all of those delicious sound files I have of Apple Cider saying really really silly things and then asking me to edit out because they were embarassing.

Ok, ok, maybe I exaggerate a little. Yeah, sometimes they go on for hours and I have to cut so much just to get things to be a reasonable length. Sometimes I spend anywhere between 6-10 hours on a single episode trying to get Chef to be loud enough. But I wouldn’t be doing it for a whole year if I didn’t absolutely love it. They’ve got a great show they run every week and yeah, despite my receding hair line from audio flubs, it’s still been a blast.

A complete and total blast.

I’ll raise my glass in their honor tonight. To BronyVille! Nopony could ask for a better cast to work with, even when I get angry because some audio mess-ups just can’t be fixed. To Ciderkins and Cheffy-poo, a pair of rowdy and fun hosts that keep the show fresh each week! One year of service to your show has passed, and I’m ready for another. So what did I learn?

I learned that friendship comes from the strangest of places, for the strangest of reasons. Sometimes you’ll meet somepony out of nowhere unexpectedly. And if you’re lucky, they’ll turn out to be pretty awesome.

And I learned that sometimes, even if the work is a little hard, and even if the people you work with frustrate you because they don’t stop hitting their microphones or belching during recordings, it’s still worth it. No, scratch that. It’s always worth it. Big work means a big payoff. And even if it’s hard, that doesn’t mean it still can’t be fun.

And though I can’t really do magic in its literal form, I don’t think it impertinent of me to suggest that the sound waves coming from my speakers when we’ve finished an episode sometimes come close.

Friendship, Podcasting, Bronyville, it’s all a magic of its own. And I’m proud to say that I’m a part of it.

I am writing to air a grievance that your company has committed. I purchased one episode of Bronyville featuring Apple Cider, Chef Sandy, and guest Dan Vincent . Chef was called a name which is not part of the accepted Chef Sandy fanon. Though the discussion of the Wall Street Journal and Bronycon news, the emails, and the discussion on the Sisterhooves episode were all inspired, we who hold the Chef Sandy canon so fear cannot stand to see these terrible changes made. Some Moving Words for Halloween

By rights, this little entry of mine should be posted next Monday, as part of my weekly “Quotes” series, but it was addressed to us on Ponychan for this particular day. As it was anonymously posted, I cannot speak to its validity. But in spite of that, I would like to share it with you anyway, as it is well written, and a very moving story. Here are the words of an anonymous poster on Ponychan.

“I have a sad but heartwarming story of friendship and magic, bronies…

Every so often, I volunteer in my city’s Children’s Hospital and provide some youthful fun to the young kids there. A while ago, I developed a good friendship with this ten year old girl named Sarah. She’s simply adorable, but she was fighting cancer. She’s a First Nations girl, and her parents gave her up, essentially not wanting to deal with her intensive care. When she hasn’t been in the hospital, she’s been in an orphanage. I came to be something of a big brother to her, and she was another little sister to me. We’d tell each other jokes, play games, and talk about what happened that day.

One day, I asked her if she could keep a very important secret. She eagerly said “Of course!” I told her I was a brony. She laughed so hard, people in the wing turned to look at us and ask what was so funny. True to her word, she replied with the usual “nothing”. She told me she had never seen the show and couldn’t understand how I, a guy twice her age, could like a girl’s show. So I did the only thing I could think of; bring my laptop to the hospital and watch My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic with her.

We watched all the episodes together, and discussed our favourite ponies. I couldn’t help but be rather somber when she told who her favourite was. Sarah’s favourite pony is Pinkie Pie, and let me tell you why. Sarah told me that Pinkie Pie was her favourite because she helped her face her fear of dying. Pinkie taught her to laugh when she was afraid or sad, and to always keep your chin up when you’re feeling down. It was her birthday about a month ago, so I bought her a Pinkie Pie pony from Toys ‘R Us (I got so many weird looks in the store). She was feeling really sick that day (from chemo), but her face lit up when she opened the box to see a brand new Pinkie Pie. Her Pinkie Pie, to help keep her safe and happy. She told me it was the best gift she had ever gotten in her entire life.

The last time I saw her was six days ago, just a few days before my birthday. She had been getting worse with each month, but she was always happy to get a visit from me. This time was different. She was hooked up to more equipment that usual, and couldn’t even sit up. She gave me an early birthday card, which had a hand drawn Fluttershy inside. She also gave me a balloon she had received from an orderly. I asked her how she and Pinkie Pie were doing and she just smiled weakly at me and said that they were doing great, even though she knew she was getting worse. I told her I would come visit her on Monday for Halloween and give her some candy if she could stomach it. She smiled again, and said she looked forward to seeing all the costumes around the hospital.

I got a call today that I knew would come, but had always dreaded. Sarah had passed away. When I got off work, I just sorta stumbled around in a daze, got on the bus to the hospital, and practically sleepwalked into the hospital. I finally came to Sarah’s room, which was now empty. No more Sarah. The bed had been made, and most of the medical equipment moved. I wondered if I had entered the wrong room, but I knew it was the right one. As I walked out holding back tears, a nurse called out to me. “Excuse me sir, are you Anon?” I told her I was and she told me heavily that Sarah had passed away. I told her that I was aware, but had hoped to say goodbye at least. The nurse then brought me to her desk telling me that Sarah had left me something.

I saw Sarah’s Pinkie Pie lying there on the desk.

The nurse told me that shortly before Sarah died, she asked her if I had stopped by and referred to me as her brother. Sarah told her I was indeed her brother, but that I was going to see her on Halloween. Sarah passed away with Pinkie Pie in her hand, and the nurse said it felt right that I should have it as a memento.

I’ve rarely cried so hard in my life.

I’m looking at her Pinkie Pie right now, looking back at me. It’s comforting to know that this pink little pony helped get this girl through something I cannot even begin to understand or know how to deal with. All I ask, is that when you all are out trick or treating or partying on Halloween, please do so in honour of Sarah. She wasn’t a sister by blood, but she was my sister in spirit, and ponies have helped us in the darkest of times.

Honesty is a very important thing in a friendship.There is no time in your life when you are more true to yourself than when you are being honest with those around you. It frees the spirit, removes doubt, and can lift an otherwise unbearable weight from ones shoulders. Honesty isn’t always about what’s easy to say.
